Pupils who attended the after-school tutoring scored, on average, eight marks higher in the summer examination than those who did not. Their teachers also reported that the tutored pupils asked noticeably more questions in lessons. The tutoring seems to have changed how those pupils engage with the subject. The after-school tutoring has therefore raised pupils' attainment in the subject.

In the year after the protected cycle lane opened, the recorded number of cyclists using the road tripled. Reported collisions involving cyclists on that particular stretch fell by half over the same period. Riders appear to feel considerably safer using the road than they previously did. So the protected lane has made the road work substantially better for those who cycle.

Since clearer signs went up, the number of walkers losing their way on the trail has dropped by two thirds. The ranger station now takes far fewer calls from lost walkers. So the new signs have made the trail easier to follow.

The office switched to refillable pens last year. Since then it has thrown away far fewer empty plastic pens. Staff are clearly reusing the refillable pens. The switch to refillable pens has therefore cut the office's plastic waste.
