Saville verbal reasoning: Analysis or Comprehension?
Check the exact assessment name in your invitation. Saville offers separate verbal tests and Swift combinations. A combined assessment's duration is not necessarily the time available for its verbal component.

What the official public practice shows
We inspected the English Verbal Analysis and Verbal Comprehension public practice on 8 September 2026. Both introductions described two separately timed sections with four questions each. The table describes the first section we inspected, not every live test.

One passage, more than one decision rule
A shared passage saves rereading, but the response rule can change between questions. Before answering, identify whether you are judging a statement, retrieving a detail, choosing a summary or interpreting a word in context. Do not carry the previous question's rule into the next one.
- True / False / Cannot Say: distinguish contradiction from missing information. A statement unsupported by the passage is not automatically false.
- Reading detail: locate the relevant sentence and check qualifiers, exceptions and which group the statement describes.
- Main idea and summary: compare coverage across the whole passage, not just whether an option repeats a true detail.
- Contextual word choice: practise using surrounding meaning. VRP's lexical exercises are related skills, not replicas of shared-passage vocabulary questions.
A practical way to review your preparation
First use the official sample to learn the controls. Then review errors by cause: a missed qualifier, a wrong response rule, or time spent looking in the wrong part of the passage. For a summary question, write a one-sentence account of the whole passage before comparing the alternatives. For detail, point to the exact evidence instead.
These are VRP learning suggestions. Our existing comprehension drills use independent questions and do not reproduce Saville's shared sections. A native pilot requires original shared-passage questions and independent review of both the individual answers and possible clues between questions. We will not call a relabelled five-choice drill a matching Saville test.
